21-Day Water Fast

On May 1, 2024 I was inspired to do a 21-Day water fast. My initial reasoning for doing the fast was because I wanted to lose the fat in my gut and I didn't know of any other way to do it in a short amount of time. As you can see from the images, I lost 30 lbs and got the results I was looking for in my mid section. My diet consisted of drinking 1/2 gallon of tap water every day and zero food consumption. I worked out every single day for at least one hour and had more than enough energy to do so.
The most challenging thing I experienced during the 21-Day water fast was the anxiety of thinking about all the hours, days and weeks that were left in the fast. My body itself was perfectly fine and was sustained by drinking a glass of water anytime I felt hungry. Since I wasn't eating any food, I noticed a lot more time on my hands because I was no longer doing any grocery shopping, cooking, preparing or eating. This gave my the freedom to focus more on my passion and purpose in life and the legacy I would leave behind. Even more so since I had zero experience in fasting for even one day, let alone 21, and wasn't sure what the outcome would be.
*Disclaimer
Doing a 21-Day Water Fast requires a great deal of faith, courage, wisdom and self-discipline, which I personally have developed through trial and error by doing many other extreme challenges like running the NYC Marathon (2X) with very minimal training, working out for 365 days in a row, going 365 days on a no meat/sugar diet, all without the consultation of any trained professionals. I do not recommend that anyone follow in my footsteps, I am merely sharing my personal experience on what has worked for me.
After completing the 21-Day water fast in 2024, I honestly felt as though I could've gone 30 days, but I had completed the amount of time I said I would commit to and I stopped there. On the last day of my fast, I made a smorgasbord of foods that I would indulge in as soon as I woke up the next day. I had at least 7 different dishes on my plate, and it had no negative effects on my body. Again, I must emphasize that my first 21-Day water fast was merely a test of whether or not I could do it.
On April 1, 2025, I'll be embarking on my second 21-Day water fast, which will be far more purposeful than the first, as my reasoning for doing the fast has changed. Without a good reason, fasting may seem like a daunting task or a burden. I believe soul searching is required before entertaining the idea of doing a fast on any level in order for it to be most effective. My reasoning for doing another 21-Day water fast is to bring my entire existence to it's higher self (mind, body and soul), as a permanent lifestyle.
That means permanently eliminating unfruitful/unhealthy thoughts, behaviors, habits, foods, people, relationships and practices from my life. Below are 21 practices I used during my 21-Day water fast, which I highly encourage others to consider.
